What device am I using?
The quickest way to find out is selecting "options" then "about" from the main menu. This screen will display everything you need to know to select the right GeoLocME version.
The first line: Blackberry© XXXX - This is your hardware platform
The second line: Not needed for GeoLocME
The third line: vX.X.X.XXX (Platform Y.Y.Y.YY) - the "v" number is your OS version, the first two digits are what we're looking for
The rest: Fun and exciting information that won't affect how GeoLocME works.
Do I have a GPS?
If your hardware platform ends with "00", you likely don't. If it ends with anything else you probably do.
I don't have a GPS, will GeoLocME work?
YES! GeoLocME will attempt to locate you using your cellular radio properties. We can usually locate a device within a few hundred yards without a hardware GPS. If you wish to improve location accuracy, you can get an external Bluetooth GPS Receiver to work with your BlackBerry smartphone.
Do I have WiFi?
If your hardware platform ends with "20", or you have a fancy new BlackBerry Bold (90xx) or Storm (95xx), then yes. If you have anything else, probably not.
